The SIE Format
SIE (Standard Import Export) is the Swedish standard format for accounting data. Launched in 1992, it has become the industry standard — practically all major Swedish accounting systems export SIE, and it's used by accounting firms, auditors and the Swedish Tax Agency. SIE is a text-based format that contains the complete picture of a fiscal year.
What is in a SIE file?
A SIE file contains complete accounting information in structured form:
- Company information and fiscal year
- Complete chart of accounts
- Dimensions (cost centers, projects, profit centers, etc.)
- Opening and closing balances
- All verifications and transactions
That's why SIE is so useful for analysis. Everything is there — you don't need anything else to reconstruct the company's financial history.
What is SIE used for?
Three primary uses in Swedish accounting:
- System migrations — moving accounting data between different systems
- Audit — auditors need complete transaction data
- Analysis and reporting — external or internal analysis of the accounting
FinPeak and SIE
FinPeak is built for SIE from the ground up. Export a SIE file from your accounting system, upload it to FinPeak, and build your own reporting structure on top. The complete chart of accounts, all dimensions and all transactions become available in the pivot — no integration, no data team required.
